I am embarrassed to admit that I used to get a substantial amount of news from Twitter. Over the years, with the proliferation of disinformation, I have become more conscious of my news consumption.

Current news consumption routine.

Apple News+ is included with our family’s Apple One subscription. I love Apple News and it is the first place I go to each morning for the news. I have curated my newsfeed within Apple News to ensure it is only pulling from reputable sites that are as unbiased as possible.

New York Times is the one news outlet I subscribe to every year. Its reputation as the “newspaper of record” holds so it is worth the money.

NBC4 Washington is the news app I use for local news. While I can also get local news within Apple News, I have found that NBC4’s local news alerts are the best and most timely, especially for weather and major local incidents.

The Banner is great for Maryland news. It is also available within Apple News, but I find the app to be a bit better covering county and town specific news within Maryland.

Finally, I have returned to using RSS (via the new Reeder app). I use this to get hyper Local RSS feeds as well as feeds for specific outlets, writers, or YouTubers I follow.
